Sheep Balls – Sheep Wool DRYER Balls

I loathe doing laundry but I love this set of sheep wool dryer balls by Smart Sheep. I’ve been using them since March 2021 and they really do make a difference.

I discovered these while searching for new laundry balls to replace our old plastic ones. I started reading about the benefits of using wool and decided to try them. After doing several loads of laundry, I noticed everything was softer and fluffier. I couldn’t get over it. Our old dryer balls never did that.

Why Use Wool Dryer Balls

There are a surprising number of reasons to use wool laundry balls, as noted below along with my experiences and thoughts…

1. Balls bouncing in your dryer help to improve the airflow, thereby shortening drying time.
   • This saves time and money.
2. They help soften your clothes so you can cut back on fabric softener.
   • I don’t use fabric softener but I can tell you these wool balls make our laundry softer and fluffier.
3. Wool dryer balls can minimize static cling.
   • I confess I have not completely done away with my dryer sheets. BUT, I use one dryer sheet a dozen times with these balls and I have zero static cling. I couldn’t do that with our old plastic ones.
   • Since I’m using fewer dryer sheets, I’m saving money, reducing garbage waste and using fewer chemicals. Win-win!
4. They are all-natural, hypoallergenic and contain no fillers, chemicals or synthetics.
   • This is good if you’ve got babies or have sensitive skin. 
5. Wool balls can reduce wrinkles as well as collect lint and pet hair.
   • I fold my clothes while they’re hot from the dryer so they don’t wrinkle and my dog doesn’t shed, so I can’t speak to these. 
   • My clothes are not at all linty. All the lint and fuzz go into the lint trap as usual.
6. Smart Sheep says their laundry balls will keep sheets and blankets from getting balled up.
   • Not even these balls can do that, at least mine haven’t.
   • A Nobel Prize will go to the person who discovers a way to prevent sheets from getting balled up in the dryer.
7. Wool dryer balls can be used over 1,000 times, lasting two to four years.
   • If I don’t have to replace them often, I’m saving money. I’ve had mine since March 2021 and they still work great.

The Sheep Smart Wool Dryer Balls come as a set of 6 and are available in the three styles, shown above. I have the white ones but the company has since started making sheep and penguin dryer balls. The sheep are so darn cute, I may have to buy them when I replace the ones I have.
