Keep Your Dryer Working Efficiently & Prevent a Dryer Fire

Keep your dryer working efficiently and prevent a dryer fire by removing years of accumulated lint with a dryer lint vac attachment. We all know to clean the lint tray/trap after each load of laundry. But a surprising amount of lint escapes into the dryer cavity, behind the dryer, and builds up in the dryer’s exhaust hose and outside vent.

Even if you knew having your dryer cleaned was a thing, now you don’t have to pay a technician to do it. As a DIY girl, I’m all about doing things myself. And the Dryer Lint Vacuum Attachment makes it easy. If you can operate a vacuum cleaner, you can do this.

Facts About Dryer Fires

Cleaning excess lint from your clothes dryer is an important safety measure to prevent a dryer fire. According to the U.S. Fire Administration:

  • 2,900 home clothes dryer fires are reported each year and cause an estimated 5 deaths, 100 injuries, and $35 million in property loss.
  • Failure to clean the dryer (34 percent) is the leading cause of home clothes dryer fires.
  • More home clothes dryer fires occur in the fall and winter months, peaking in January.

Keep Your Dryer Working Efficiently & Save Money

This clever gadget will keep your dryer working efficiently and save you money over time. For starters, you won’t have to pay someone to clean your dryer. More importantly, your clothes will dry faster, using less electricity and gas (if you have a gas dryer). Shorter dry cycles also mean less work for your dryer, which will extend the life of your appliance.

Easy to Use

The Dryer Lint Vacuum Attachment is easy to use. Simply attach the cone-shaped end of the vacuum adapter to your vacuum cleaner hose, remove the lint tray/trap from the dryer and you’re ready to get to work. Before you begin, be sure to read my Tips, below.

I vacuumed every nook and cranny I could get the attachment in. I even dragged my vacuum outside to get to the exterior dryer vent and exhaust hose. There will not be a dryer fire at my house.

Results You Can See

I have to confess, using this dryer vac was both gross and satisfying. It was gross to see how much lint had accumulated over the years, but oddly satisfying to get it all out and see my vacuum canister fill up, see below.

The dryer lint vac produces results you can see.

Be prepared to be amazed at how much lint comes out of your dryer! I know, it’s gross. But it’s also so satisfying.

Tips

  • Be careful if the dryer lint vacuum attachment sucks up a huge hunk of lint so that it doesn’t get stuck. I had to turn off my vacuum a couple of times to remove large lumps of lint that wouldn’t fit through the hose.
  • Remember to vacuum the back of the dryer, exhaust hose, outside vent, and inner dryer cavity, which you access when you remove the lint trap/tray.
  • Keep the dryer door open while vacuuming.
  • To be safe, don’t leave your dryer on when you’re not home or go to bed.
  • Keep the dryer clear of anything that can burn.
  • Check that that dryer’s lint trap/tray is clean before and after every load.
  • It’s recommended that you clean your dryer quarterly.

Get The Lint Vac Attachment

There are several vendors selling this great gadget on Amazon, Walmart, eBay, etc. I bought The Holikme Dryer Lint Vacuum Attachment on Amazon because it had the best rating at the best price. As of this writing, it has a 4.4-star rating from over 34,300 reviewers and you should check out the reviews. People proudly post pictures of their large lint piles, as I did above. It’s pretty funny.

Some people got creative when they were done vacuuming their clothes dryer. They used the lint vac attachment to vacuum other tight spaces, such as a humidifier grate and the floor under their car seats. I love multipurpose.

The Holikme Dryer Lint Vacuum Attachment also comes with a long vent brush. It’s available in three colors and the price varies by color (don’t ask me why since they all work the same, so buy whichever color is least expensive).

Please let me know if you get the Dryer Lint Vac Attachment and if you’re as impressed with it as I am.
