Top 3 Tips for Holiday Party Outfits on a Budget

Have you been thinking about what to wear to your holiday parties this season? If not, now is a good time to get started because the Black Friday sales have already begun. There are a lot of great fashion finds for under $100. So keep reading for my top three tips for holiday party dressing on a budget.

Tip 1 ~ How to Get the Most Bang for Your Buck

To get the most bang for your buck this holiday season, look for separates and two-piece sets in fun fabrics, like sequins, satin, velvet, and vegan leather. By mixing new separates together and with pieces you already own, you multiply the number of outfits you can make. This will make everything feel fresh and festive, and you won’t feel like an outfit-repeater at each holiday party.

Separates

These separates can be worn interchangeably or paired with pieces already in your closet. Each one costs less than $100 and they can all be found at Bloomingdale’s.

Two-Piece Sets

Lulus has a lot of fun and flirty two-piece outfits that cost less than $100. So you get a top and a bottom that you can wear together as well as mix and match with other pieces to give you the most bang for your buck.

Tip 2 ~ What to Wear to a Work Holiday Party

At work-related holiday parties, it’s important to dress appropriately. Whether the party is in the office or at an outside venue, you can up the ante and look festive, but you must still be dressed professionally. Think sophisticated yet playful, not va-va-voom. Save the risque stuff for your friend’s holiday party, more on that below.

Adding a sparkly top or bottom to the slacks or blouse you wore to work will elevate your outfit to party status while still being work-appropriate.

The white sequin top and black sequin skirt shown here are available at Bloomingdale’s and each costs less than $100.

Most sequin garments don’t wrinkle much, making them an excellent item to hide in your work tote until after hours. Then you can slip into the ladies’ room for a quick outfit change, like Wonder Woman, and emerge party-ready.

TIP – Fold clothes with tissue paper inside to avoid wrinkles.

Another way to easily transition from day to night is by wearing a jumpsuit. Layer it with a blazer during the day to look professional. Then lose the jacket, add some sparkly earrings and, bam, you’ll look smart, sophisticated and ready to party.

The blazers featured here are all under $100 on Lulus, as is the jumpsuit, which is available in black, green, pink and white.

Tip 3 ~ Spice It up at Personal Holiday Parties

Holiday parties you host or attend with friends are a safe place to spice it up. If you’re looking for lots of options for your busy social calendar, check out Amazon, Lulus and Nordstrom Rack. They have loads of holiday party dresses and separates, you could get a couple of pieces for under $100.

A dress always makes me feel dressed up. Anything goes and there’s something for everyone, from fun fringe to a little black dress. And all the dresses shown here are under $100.

The dresses in the top row are from Lulus, the middle row from Nordstrom Rack, and the bottom row are available on Amazon.

Lastly, mix it up by pairing different tops with a dressy pantsuit to create new looks. These are all available on Amazon, you guessed it, for less $100.

Happy Shopping!
